Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can my swimmer continue on at Briarcliff Woods Beach Club (BWBC)?
    • BWBC will allow some SCC swimmers with seniority to continue on as a Barracuda. This is at their discretion and not under our control. Their policy is:
      • The “legacy rule” will allow select Barracuda alumni swimmers to remain on the BWBC Barracudas team if they choose to and meet the legacy rule qualifications. The qualifications are: SCC pool members who are 11 years of age or older on May 31st, 2026, AND have at least 4 years of history swimming with the Barracudas. If one swimmer in your family meets these qualifications, siblings are also allowed to join, allowing your family to be part of one swim team.
  • Will SCC host meets?
    • No, the pool is not yet equipped to host a meet and cannot be in time for the ’26 season. However, we may use our pool for mock meets.
  • How large will the team be?
    • Maybe somewhere between 40 and 70 swimmers. Some families are looking forward to a smaller team and shorter meets! Because of this, we might be surprised how many swimmers join the new team.
  • What’s our mascot?
    • A seawolf is a coastal wolf species known for the skill at hunting and swimming and the ability to survive in cold water!
  • Will we have meets with the Barracudas?
    • It depends on the size of the new team. We will have meets with nearby teams of similar size.
  • How can I help at meets?
    • Every family will have the opportunity to help throughout the season, just as you did with the Barracudas, at meets, after meets, and at special events. Volunteering is mandatory. Volunteer roles during meets include:
      • Timer, runner, place judge, bullpen parent, ribbon writer
  • How can I help at home?
    • Several roles on a new Swim Council will be needed before the season starts, and are critical to the success of the new team, including:
      • President and Lead Coordinator
      • Assistant Coordinator
      • Communications
      • Registration
      • Treasurer
      • Merchandise
      • Sponsorships
      • Website & Social Media
  • Can I join the team if I’m not an SCC pool club member?
    • This is still being decided.
  • What are the team colors?
    • Help us decide!
